Reading in Valparaiso

I am visiting Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar in Chile. And whilst sitting on our balcony in the evening, I am re-reading Elizabeth Baines' wonderful collection Balancing on the Edge of the World.
Watch this space. When we get back later next week, Im looking forward to asking her some questions about her work, and will be posting the discussion here as part of her Cyclone tour.

If you are reading, Elizabeth... is this the furthest your lovely book has travelled??!

I think it may be, Vanessa1.

How lovely to hear from you after all this time. Hope you've been having an absolutely wonderful trip, and dying to hear all about it!

It has been the experience of a lifetime.
I can describe those places I visited in Chile and Argentina, I can describe The Falklands, and a few places in South Georgia....then I lose the ability to use words. There are none to describe Antarctica. Pictures will have to do.

Please don't be jealous, peeps. Just make yourselves a promise to come to the end of the world once before you die.

I love that name 'Valparaiso'... sounds so other and exciting. I could write me a character with that name, and in the movie he would be played by Banderas and girls just saying the name would faint, and waking touch their lips with their fingers, just the tips. Valparaiso.
