WILLESDEN SHORT STORY COMP.. CLOSING 18 DEC
Stephen Moran, on Facebook: Somebody send some classy stories to the Willesden short story competition. Pretty please. Otherwise I'll have to shoot myself.
I think Stephen is saying that a lot of the entries so far are dire. Not all... some are smashing - but not enough of them. SO GET YOUR STORY IN!!

Sounds good! I'm going to enter.
Yay! Good luck Sophie!
Gawd! I hope he doesn't mean mine!!!???
I entered a story, but have to go into my system to remember which one. Usual disorganisation crap.
Sue, I'm SURE he doesnt mean yours! He said there are some strong stories but just not enough!!!
Maybe because it doesn't pay. Fame and mug. A mug game?
There is a small sum for the winner this year - sponsored by Pulp.net again, I think. (Best check!) I think thats a real shame.
It was about the only comp run simply for the love of the short story, originally, started by Willesden Herald and judged by a top writer. The mug is iconic! Then money crept in, and things started to go awry. The mug is still iconic, and will be worth at least 50p in years to come.
However - this comp is still up there among the best.
Thanks for the nod, V. Will chuck something in this one.
Hello, Eeyore here. ;-)
The prizes are not too bad, though I say so myself - 1st £300 and 2 equal runners up x £150. We have an entry fee of £3 to cover the costs and this makes it self-financing. (I'm crossing everything as I say that and not just for luck. Heheh.)
Pulp.net sponsored the prize money and results event last time and are still helping with a results event this time but we had no sponsor for prize money this time, hence the entry fee. We said (no, not the royal we, me and me mates) we'd give any left over to charity but I don't think there'll be any leftovers. The plates will be clean. In fact the plates may be eaten as well.
None of the links on the homepage seem to be working for me. Anyone else having this problem? When I click on 'rules' or any of the other links, nothing happens... Was working the other day!
Several people have had that problem with the links lately. The hosting company moved the site to a new machine last Friday and I think something went awry. It's still working for me when I test it and entries are still coming in. The latest clue is that it seems to work for Internet Explorer and Safari but possibly not for Firefox. It would be a pity if some technical problem stymied it. We've had another problem with PayPal not accepting payments from Hong Kong and Nigeria, as well. This international high finance is tricky. :-)
I fixed it. It was something Firefox didn't like. The whole middle section of the page was missing. It's the middle bit that changes. It should work now.
