Aye, she is extremely beautiful. When we met v briefly at Oxford lit fest, I remember her shoes, on the end of these impossibly long legs. Enthralling things with high perspex heels...
thanks for this Vanessa, I've not read anything by her - yet - but will look out for it. Currently re-reading Small Island, interesting multi-narrator approach, exploring race AND class and our shared history. Wish my mum was still alive to lend it to, she'd have loved it.
Waterstone’s says: "...some of the most beautifully crafted and engrossing stories that one can read..." The Asham Award website says: "This stunning range of work is not afraid to explore the darker side of human emotion, yet allows us to see the light which often wavers at the end of the bleakest and longest tunnel. These beautifully written stories are in the best literary tradition, lyrical yet understated. "

Glad you all liked it. There are some very inspirational talks on there....all free!
What a wonderful speaker she is. And so goddamn beautiful. I will go now and read her work.
Terrific post. I thought she gave a very enthralling talk. Brilliant angle on the universality of prejudice.

Hi Jo... I enjoy her short stories as much as anything. Half of a Yellow Sun is also great.
